Works great January 3, 2009 It works great and I love how there is an auto shut off. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars is because I've probably owned at least 3 of these. Depending on how often you use it (I use mine every day) the mechanisms in the handle have a tendency to break after like a year and a half. You can still use it but you have to touch the hot plastic part. Then the iron will completely die like 6 months later.
This is a great straightener December 17, 2008 I bought this straightener after one of my friends straightened my hair backstage at a play. I really liked the way it looked and how managable it was, so I decided to buy one of my own.
I have thick, wavy hair, and this straightener worked great for it. It heated up fast, stayed hot, and straightened quick. My hair would actually stay mostly straight for a couple days, and would only go back to being really wavyish after I washed it.
Unfortunately, after a couple years of use, it started smoking for no reason I can discern, and I don't feel comfortable using it anymore, so now I'm in the market for a new one. I absolutely recommend it.
No qualms November 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
So far I have had the straightener for about two weeks, it heats up fast, to a high heat if needed. I haven't had any problems with this device. I would recommend this item though if you were in the market of looking for an affordable flat iron that gave you the same quality straightening power of a hot tools, now it doesn't get that hot, but it's pretty darn close. I have very thick hair and it takes me less then a half hour now to straighten it all. I gave it four stars just because I wasn't blown away by the product, now if it was a singing straightener maybe we'd be on to something. just kidding.
But really this is a good product, I highly recommend it
Cheap junk headed to the landfill.... November 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product has received an overwhelming amount of good reviews on amazon...why? I have no idea...this straightener lasted us barely two months of normal household use then apparently fried. Customer service (1-800-3-CONAIR) was non-existent. If this review serves to prevent some other poor consumer from wasting their money then I have spent my time well.
Great Product! November 19, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've always wanted to get a nice flat iron, but couldn't afford the fancy salon ones. My husband bought the 1" Conair for me a few years ago and it worked pretty well, but I think my hair was too thick and long to use it anymore. The smaller one is nicer for thinner hair or touch ups.
Part of me wasn't sure about buying this product, but based on all of the good reviews and for the great price, I ordered it. The first time I used it, I was amazed. It worked so well and I have thick frizzy hair. At first I figured, eh my hair will frizz up again when I go outside (lived in WI where it's humid). But even after using it in the morning, going out all day, going to bed and waking up, it was still just as flat as it was when I first did it. My next test was going out dancing at a club for 5 hours which causes my hair to get super frizzy. My hair stayed flat all night. And it doesn't take a long time to use. There is a temp setting that you turn based on what kind of hair you have, and for me with shoulder or just below shoulder length thick hair, it takes me about 10 minutes to use. I have used it on dyed hair and it seems to not cause any more damage. I would suggest using a hair product you apply before using the flat iron, just to help protect your hair. Also you might want to use some kind of shampoo/conditioner designed for heat treated hair or something that puts a lot of moisture into your hair. I blow dry my hair, dye it, and use this flat iron and my hair seems to be pretty healthy with all I do to it.
I have had this product for about a year now and it works just as well as it did when I first bought it. I now live in WA and even with all the rain it works great for the most part. Yeah, if my hair gets too wet from the rain then it does frizz up, but that happens after a shower too. But for the most part, I love this flat iron and it still surprises me sometimes at how well it works. Now I can have more modern hairstyles and look more professional at work. This flat iron works so well especially for the cost.
